This vignet is absolute perfection, especially that snake skin tray. Maybe the one I ordered will be here one of these days…

Tonya found these bookends at a local second-hand store. I haven’t been to see them in person, but I think they’re lovely (and I do need some bookends!) :)

Erika’s picture taken in Colorado. It’s not Arizona, but this make me long for the wild west and wide open space–something you just don’t see on the east coast.

Last week I was able to score some amazing deals on Gilt Groupe at the pre-release sale of John Derian for Target. Loving this melamine plate that I’m going to put in my bookcase.

This lamp that is utter perfection. It’s listed as vintage but I know 100% I’ve seen very similar ones. Anyone know where I can find similar?

I saw this bumper sticker and it immediately spoke to me. I love it.

And finally, doesn’t this pretty lady spotted over on A Cup of Jo look so stylish? I’d love to dress like her this early-fall (sans the head band).

Sorry for the late posts! I’ve been swamped lately! :)

Do you belong to Gilt Groupe? If not, you want to join ASAP because they’re offering Tucker for Target, John Derrian for Target and Mulberry for Target at an exclusive sneak peek preview sale starting tomorrow at noon.

My new Jade yoga mat has me glued to the floor. No slipping, even when sweating. I’m in love.

I was ready for some new personalized cards and decided upon these herringbone patterned ones from Pixelimpress in a soft gray color. They’re so, so pretty.

I spotted this on Bryn’s blog. Seriously in love + adding it to my home office inspiration folder.

Sustainable Friday: Vintage Shopping

Friday, July 23rd, 2010

As a newish homeowner I’ve been decorating on-and-off for months. As part of my desire to live a greener lifestyle and let’s be honest, have a stylish, unique home, I partake in vintage shopping. Not only is it reusing and recycling, two green principles, I get awesome stuff for a steal!

Here’s a sampling of the goodies I’ve picked up the last two trips to Sleepy Poet, my absolute favorite vintage shop in Charlotte. Sleepy Poet, by the way, has seriously stepped it up in the last few months and their styling has become much better. If you haven’t visited in awhile or felt overwhelmed the last time you were there I recommend you check it out again.

A perfect storage console. It has a travertine top, tightly woven rattan doors, ample amounts of storage and amazingly fits in our hallway perfectly.

Blenko Glass candlestick holders.

A fun mixed drink or iced tea pitcher. Way prettier than all clear glass.

Faux bamboo brass picture frame and solo sterling silver candleholder. (That’s the stock picture that came in the frame. Something else will be replaced soon!)

Now here’s the kicker, would you believe if I told you all of this together cost less than $225?! Yep, it’s true! Vintage shopping is green and economical!

Happy shopping!

Industrial chic, is that even a style? Oh well if it’s not, because it’s what I call these lamps and I adore them.

When people see the world and think about things like the secret that’s depicted on the postcard (taken from Post Secret) above it just makes me smile.

These new dress-up-jeans-for-meetings-shoes that I spotted in Real Simple months ago. They’re so, so comfortable too.

Steven Miller’s Untitled #7 painting. Although, I wish there was a giclee print available because the original, sadly, isn’t within my budget.

The sparkles and tank top combined in one. So perfect for moi.

Target’s Kimono Dress… once again much more flattering in person than on the website. Thank you to my dear friend Tonya for discovering this $15 piece of happiness. (P.S. Mine hits just above the knee and there are additional colors at the store.)

And finally, these Steve Madden flats. I discovered they’re on super sale until August and then they go to full price. Unlike other Steve Madden shoes, these were actually incredibly comfortable.

These beautiful glass and silver coasters. I saw some recently at Sleepy Poet Antique Mall but they were way over priced so off to Ebay I go…

EmersonMade’s new clothing line. So simple and feminine. What’s not to love?!

This 100% amazing fabric Bryn found for one of her e-decorating clients. Go gorgeous.

I’ve been on the hunt for fun, metallic flats for awhile. I love these and bonus, they’re pretty reasonably priced.

Pretty, pretty abstract floral pattern. I’m thinking for the wedding in July…

My friend Tonya’s perfect Mid-Century Modern magazine rack. So perfect and so much better than the old feed bucket I use.

The dresses seemed kinda blah at the new J.Crew Bridal Boutique but ohmygod I LOVED this desk. My jaw literally dropped open the second I saw it.

I think I’ve finally found my perfect denim jacket. Yay! No to try and locate it in my size…

Another desk I’m loving. Can you tell I’m on the hunt?

This kitchen from the most recent Lonny is perfection. Love the cabinet color and I’ve discovered it’s once again my favorite Farrow & Ball color. Sigh… one day maybe I’ll have a kitchen like this.

Dress up, dress down… either way I love, love, love this top and necklace.

Such a pretty way to personalize your MacBook or iPad.

Now that I’m having a lot of meeting with potential clients, I’m feeling the need for some dressy jeans. I don’t quite feel the need to wear slacks with most of the meetings, but regular dark matchstick jeans don’t quite cut it for everything. These trousers look great!

Love. love, love these cups. The Kate Spade Green stripes are amazing. Wish they weren’t bad for the environment though.

It seems my wish list could go on and on forever. First up, I’m feeling bohemian. I want airy, long dresses for summer. I’m picturing wearing this with a chunky cuff and funky sandals to the rehearsal dinner BBQ we’re attending this July up in Maine.

Again, it’s somewhat bohemian and wouldn’t this horn bowl look great in a bookcase or on a side table?

spotted these in the most recent Nordstrom catalog I received in the mail. They’re a little bit punk rock and look way better on the model than this picture shows.

Finally, Alicia Bock’s new photograph bookmarks. Just looking at them takes me away.

Ikea Goods

Monday, April 26th, 2010

Let me preface this post by saying I used to be anti Ikea. I hated the big box. I hated how many people were there. Generally, I hated everything about it. But then, my favorite magazines started to show things I liked and low-and-behold, they were from Ikea.

My friend Tonya then taught me the correct way to shop Ikea; on Sundays, right when they open, and before church has ended. I’ve also discovered during the week around 2PM works pretty dang well too. Yesterday, she and I went and we both made a killing. I’m going to show you everything I purchased and post the price. I do this because I’m just shocked at some of the prices. Even my favorite store, Target, can’t compare. All this was $50.

The Barbar Tray ($3.99) is going in my bathroom sitting on top of the toilet.

Rektangel Vase ($2.49) was purchased to replace the great vase I found at a consignment store that unfortunately broke during the SustainCharlotte event last week.

I got the PS Vallo Watering Can ($1.99) in the light pink color. Because pretty things make doing mundane tasks more fun.

My Apple magic mouse is a bit hard to move on the hard desk I have. This Lagis ($.99) mouse pad is going to get a face lift a la Bryn’s style.

I loved the set of Korsfjord Arcylic Bathroom Set ($7.99) I got during our last visit that I decided to get another and complete my organization.

Our doormat final bit the bullet. This Sindal Door Mat ($4.99) basically looks the same as what we already had and will work until I can find a wire one I love.

I completed our set of Godis ($5.99) drinking glasses by purchasing a set of 6 low balls.

And 12 Godis ($7.99) highballs.

Finally, the last thing isn’t exciting but definitely necessary, Blaska Dust Pan ($1.99).

Sneak Peek

Friday, April 16th, 2010

So now that I work from home, I’m trying to make our spare bedroom also function as an office. I had Bryn make me a bulletin board that was inspired by Erica’s. It’s 3×4′ and will hang over my desk. More pictures to come soon of my “working space” (working on getting a new desk and chair before I show it off)!
