Loving…

Thursday, March 4th, 2010

This pattern. Even more so now that it’s paired with stationary. My favorite.

I’m still hunting for the perfect striped tee. Found one, then the hems all came out, and they keep coming out despite resewing. I want one that’s long and slightly fitted. This one seems pretty perfect.

This table my good friend Tonya found when we were out doing home decor shopping. It’s vintage (of course) and I’m running it by my new decorator friend (also found by Tonya) to hear her thoughts. Fingers crossed she thinks it will work in my living room… I’m so bad at pulling rooms together.

Can’t get enough of this print. Wish I could say I was sophisticated and read The New Yorker every week but I’m not. I’m thinking a 5×7 note card framed would work perfectly on my gallery wall.

Coveting…

Thursday, February 4th, 2010

This glamorous mirrored lamp. As my friend Tonya says, every house needs a little glamour. This will look awesome in our hallway.

The pattern of this carrara marble tile. We’re finally getting rid of the stained grout and disgusting, chipped tile in our bathroom; this pattern has won my heart over.

A new cheek color. I officially have the longest lasting blush. Seriously. It will be 3-years-old in March and I still can’t see the bottom of the container!  (I only know this because I received it for my birthday right before I moved to North Carolina.) It’s MAC and although I love the color, I’m getting tired of it! I’ve heard really good things about how flattering NARS Orgasm is on all skin tones. I think it will be fun for spring.

This lamp to sit atop the bedroom dresser. With a contemporary drum shade, of course.

Coveting…

Kate’s work keeps getting more and more gorgeous. I’m especially loving these purples and blues. (FYI- Kate’s next For Me, For You shop update will be sometime in February.)

Clare Vivier designed a special remnant leather clutch for Target’s Red Hot Shop. It’s at a pretty dang great price for  American designed and crafted and it’s gorgeous.

Update: Reader Kathy just informed me these are sold out! I follow Clare on Twitter– if she announces another Red Hot Sale I’ll definitely share with you all.

I think the hunt for baskets to put on my kitchen island shelves is finally over. The price is right, the size is perfect.

Russel Wright, mid-century design, Bauer pottery… need I say more?

Thomas Paul and linen, it makes me so happy looking at this pillow.

China

Wednesday, January 20th, 2010

I didn’t register for china when I was married mostly because I didn’t think it would get used. If I was to start collecting today, I think it would be this gorgeous Wedgewood pattern, Intaglio. Void of any color it could be boring, but no, it’s that Greek key pattern that adds all the difference. Beautiful.

Gallery Wall

Thursday, January 14th, 2010

Here’s our new gallery wall filled with family photos, still life photography and artwork we’ve collected on travels. My friend Tonya helped me do the layout and she did an awesome job! I still need one more photo to fill that frame in the foreground and then it’s done; that is until I find more artwork I can’t live without!

Maura Peters Candle

Maura Peters

Yesterday my friend Tonya and I went to Isabella’s open house and poked around at all the goodies we could get for 20% off. Of course there were lots of beauties that caught our eye, in particular a headboard for me and a lamp for Tonya, but with Christmas being just around the corner the only thing I left with was an amazing candle.

It’s from the Maura Peters white collection (pictured above) and I couldn’t be happier. It’s burning evenly and using all the wax. It made my whole room fragrant with the scent of Waterlily and the mini hand blown ball glows beautifully on the table. It’s definitely a holder I’ll hold onto and reuse as a bud vase. I definitely recommend! After all, as Tonya says, “Life’s too short for cheap candles.”

Looped Doormat

Doormat

Our $9.99 woven doormat from Target is on the way out. It’s fraying on each end but after 2 1/2 years I’d say its actually held up really well.

We have a French inspired bistro set out front and I’m thinking this doormat would pair really nicely. Anyone have or used a metal mat? What do you think?

Draftsman Stool

Thursday, October 15th, 2009

Now that I have an island in the kitchen I want some stools around it. Inspired by the picture above, that has some similar features to my dream kitchen, I’m thinking of this one from Wisteria.

I spotted this amazing cup over on The Bright Side Project. Isn’t it fabulous?! It would certainly add the right amount of glitz and glamour to my desk!

Plant Table

This was my favorite image from Lonny. I would love to have the space and the corner for a table just like that filled with beautiful plants.

Island

Monday, October 12th, 2009

This is my all time favorite kitchen. I first saw it in Domino and then more recently in Canadian House and Home. The thing I loved about the most recent feature is that they told readers where to get similar stuff.

So, when they featured the kitchen island below as a similar one to the island above, I jumped for joy! I’ve been on the hunt for a long time because our kitchen seriously has about 3 feet of work space. We’re assembling it tonight and I’ll let you know how it turns out.
P.S. We also finally got the bentwood chairs I’ve been lusting over forever. Now, I just need to get a pot rack, new knobs, runner and some art work and I think the kitchen will be complete! (That still sounds like a lot though, especially when I then move onto other rooms.)

DIY Headboard

Thursday, September 17th, 2009

This DIY headboard Grace did is a-ma-zing. Seriously. It looks fabulous! And I love that shape. She has me totally inspired to get working on our bedroom. Now to just pick out a fabric…

Simple Lovely Shop

Friday, September 11th, 2009

One of my favorite bloggers has opened a shop! Filled with curiosities, vintage and new goods and eventually some handmade goods too (like her lovely necklaces) the shop is a perfectly curated collection reflecting Simple Lovely and the ideas and style her blog embodies.

Congratulations Joslyn. I can’t wait to see how it evolves over the next few months!

Perfect White Dishes

Thursday, September 10th, 2009

The perfect dishes? I think yes.

You know how your style changes and you once thought you were more contemporary than you actually are? No? Oh, well that happened to me. Turns out my friend wants to purchase the ones I own that aren’t quite perfect for me anymore. Yay to stylish friends. Yay to getting the perfect white dishes that match your style!
