Banjamin Button

Have you seen The Curious Case of Benjamin Button?

I saw it this past weekend and LOVED it. Although a bit long, I thought the story was fascinating and as usual Cate Blanchett and Brad Pitt gave great performances.

I know there are a lot of great movies out right now, and lists are long, but I highly recommend you add it to yours.

The Polar Express

Monday, December 1st, 2008

Last night to help us get further into the holiday spirit we watched The Polar Express. It was the perfect winter night-cold, rainy and windy-with us snuggled up in the house sipping hot chocolate. I remember reading the book as a child and have always loved the simple story and beautiful illustrations. The movie really does a nice job of bringing it to life and I think from now on I’ll keep it on my Christmas watch list. What movies do you watch around Christmas?

Kilowatt Ours

Monday, July 14th, 2008

Look at the picture above. That’s mountain top removal coal mining in part of the Appalachian mountains. Isn’t it incredibly sad to see what we’ve done to our environment just to mine coal for the nations energy. Even worse is when you know that alternate technologies exists and yet we still stick with the same old. Kilowatt Ours is a great, short movie that explains things in an easy to understand way and shows how quick, inexpensive and money saving changes around your home can help make all the difference.

The Secret Life of Bees Movie

Saturday, June 14th, 2008

One of my favorite Southern fiction novels, The Secret Life of Bees, is being made into a movie! I absolutely cannot wait to see this film about mothers and daughters and the women in our lives who nurture us.

Juno

Tuesday, April 22nd, 2008

So I finally saw Juno. Very quirky and so not what I expected. Nonetheless, it was good and I recommend it. It’s so different from what’s out there and it tackles a difficult subject in a great way.

Dan in Real Life

Monday, April 21st, 2008

This weekend I fell in love with Dan in Real Life.

Atonement

Saturday, March 29th, 2008

Atonement should have won Best Picture of the Year.

Home Fries

Friday, March 21st, 2008

Home Fries is so quirky and fun! I absolutely loved it! I can’t believe I didn’t see it sooner. A must rent!

Redbox

Tuesday, March 11th, 2008

I love Redbox! $1.07 for an overnight rental due by 9 PM the next evening. It’s so much better than Blockbuster where you pay $4 for three nights. Who needs it for that long anyway? It’s stocked with current movies too; we rented No Country for Old Men the day it came out on DVD. Click here for locations.

The Waitress

Monday, March 10th, 2008

Tonight we watched The Waitress. Keri Russell is so good in it! It’s a great, feel good, quirky movie.

The Other Boleyn Girl

Sunday, March 2nd, 2008

Natalie Portman, Scarlett Johansson, a period drama– it’s all I could ask for in a movie {and currently on my movie list.}

Sex and the City Movie

Monday, February 25th, 2008

Last week, a better, longer sneak peek of the Sex and the City movie was leaked. Of course, it was taken off within a few hours. Lucky for us, this website still has it posted. I can’t wait until May 30!

Shawshank Redemption

Friday, February 22nd, 2008

We just saw Shawshank Redemption. Excellent acting and an amazing story of friendship. If you haven’t seen it, I highly recommend it.
